System Description

The main computer in the office/ham shack is a custom-built 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 Quad 2600 (Turbo Boost to 3.8 GHz) with a 160 GB SDD, a 1 TB HDD and 8 GB of RAM, running under Windows 7 Professional (64-bit, SP1). This machine is a hardwired client on a small SOHO 802.11b/g wireless LAN using a Linksys BEFSR41 gateway router and WAP54G access point. A Linksys WSB24 signal booster connected to the access point "fills in the holes" in the RF coverage. The local cable ISP provides broadband Internet service via the router.

The other clients are a wireless Acer 8473T laptop,  running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, and a wireless Asus EeePC 4G, running Windows XP Home Edition. The wireless LAN allows network access from anywhere in the house or garden.

On the main computer, Microsoft IIS 7.5 provides intranet WWW hosting for website development. SharePoint Designer 7, with Server Extensions, is the Web creation toolset. This configuration makes for a very effective website development and test platform.
